Doggie Cold & Flu Season Approaching

Updated: Nov 7

Every winter season just like humans do - our little pupperonis can easily get a cold or flu in the city. We recommend you check your dog's canine influenza vaccine with your vet and get the up to date shots if needed. November is when the cold weather sets in and pups can pickup a cold anywhere - in your building/elevator/on walks/at the dog park. The winter season brings sniffles and aches to people and pups as both tend to easily catch the cold/flu.

Sit Social has been in business over a decade, and thankfully we have never had any sort of major illness outbreak of any kind amongst our hundreds of doggie clients we have served since 2012. The reason we create a safe space is because we are rigorous in our vaccine requirements, we ask our clients to keep their dogs home if sick, our clients report to us immediately if that is the case, and we also notify clients or would shut the facility down if anything close to a deadly outbreak were to occur. We require vaccination for all dogs who receive services at Sit Social, and we thoroughly sanitize our spaces multiple times per day to kill bacteria and the spread of germs.

We wanted to send out a friendly reminder to get ahead of the news media and the winter season - so that you don't panic when news stations inevitably report and exaggerate the dog cold/flu season. Of course, we encourage you to trust and make your own decisions, and we encourage you to monitor actual numbers/statistics from your local vet's offices to fact check information. The media outlets tend to catastrophize and report on doggie cold and flus while highlighting rare cases of dog illness each year around the winter season. We have seen it happen annually with differing headlines, and every year despite these news stories, we have remained open and continue to keep a clean, sanitary and safe space for all the pups in our care without any illness outbreaks or deaths.

Your peace of mind and the safety of your dogs always come first, so please ensure your pups are vaccinated fully for the upcoming winter season, and should you notice any signs of illness such as a cough or runny nose, please take them to the vet and let us know right away so that we can continue to keep a safe and happy space for all the pups we love so much while yours recovers with meds and rest.

Thank you so much for supporting my small business and our wonderful team of dog lovers, and we are all wishing you a wonderful end of 2024 as we finish out the coming months.

Cheers,
